Are Dinney Clarkson accessories waterproof?

They are 3ATM water resistant! However, to keep the metal components in the best condition, we recommend that you avoid all contact with water. They are resistant to everyday use and light rain.

How do I know whether my Dinney Clarkson is authentic?

To ensure the authenticity of a Dinney Clarkson accessory, it must be purchased directly from our website. Any purchases made via e-commerce platforms such as eBay and Groupon, or an unauthorised third party vendor on Amazon, impose risk of receiving an item that is counterfeit, used, or defective. Dinney Clarkson cannot honour any warranty claims that are not accompanied by the original documentation.

My order is a gift, can the invoice be removed?

Should you wish to have an invoice removed for your order, simply let us know that your order is a gift in the Notes section at checkout and we will be happy to exclude it. This may not be possible for countries outside the EU, as we are sometimes required by law to include commercial invoices in the shipment to state the shipment’s value.

Where is my email order confirmation?

If an order was placed, verified, and processed successfully, you should receive an automated order confirmation via email.

It is unlikely but possible that you did not instantly receive your order confirmation due to high volumes. The order confirmation will be sent out to you via email within 48 hours. We kindly ask you to wait 48 hours to receive your order confirmation before contacting us. 

If you have not received an order confirmation, we recommend you to contact us at customer@dinneyclarkson.com so we may investigate this for you. It is possible that your order was unsuccessful, or that the email address you have provided was incorrect. In the events that you have been debited in your bank account, you can safely know that your order has been successful.

How should I care for my Sterling Silver accessories?

The best way to prevent tarnishing is to store clean, dry sterling silver in a dry airtight container, such as a resealable bag. Placing an anti-tarnish strip with the silver in the airtight container will also help fight against tarnish. After taking off your silver accessories, clean it with a dry soft cloth before putting it back into an airtight container. A general rule of thumb for silver: it should be the last thing put on before leaving the house, and the first thing removed when returning home.

Try not to leave silver jewellery in the bathroom. Humidity can speed up the oxidation process that produces tarnish. Minimise its contact with chemicals (hairspray, perfume, body lotion, bleach, etc.) and do not wear it in the shower, swimming pool or hot tub to ensure durable brilliance. A film can form if soap or cleaning agents are not washed off completely. This film will become a magnet for dirt, dust and other contaminants.

My Sterling Silver accessories are tarnished, how should I clean them?

Use our silver polishing wipes included alongside your silver accessories to remove oxidation from silver. Tissues and paper towels can cause scratches. Make sure the cloth is clean since any residual dirt and grit left on the cloth from previous use can leave scrapes and pits. Use light pressure and allow the cloth to do the work for you.

Commercial cleaners can also be purchased at high-street jewellery stores, they are very strong and will remove all oxidation. Always follow the instructions on the labels.

If you’d like to avoid harsh commercial cleaners and the polishing cloth doesn’t work, gently hand wash the silver components (without the gemstones or pearls) in warm water containing a few drops of mild dishwashing liquid. If the accessory contains gemstones or pearls, use a cotton swab with mild dishwashing liquid instead to wash only the silver components, do not submerge the entire piece into water. Use a cotton swab for tight corners. A soft baby toothbrush can be used for more abrasive cleaning when needed. Thoroughly rinse and completely dry the sterling silver before storing, as moisture itself can contribute to tarnishing.

Never use chemicals such as chlorine bleach, denatured alcohol, turpentine, acetone and ammonia, toothpaste or other abrasives as they are all harmful to metals, gemstones and pearls. Some websites recommend toothpaste as a cleaner, but this is in fact not an accepted practice by fine jewellers. The abrasives in toothpaste can damage the surface of the metal.

If the above steps do not remove the tarnish on the sterling silver, it may require a visit to a professional jeweller who will either clean the sterling silver with an ultrasonic cleaner, or buff it with stages of abrasive paper.
